Join our Rethink Policy Workshop

Gillian Scholes

Join us on 27th April from 10am – 12.30pm for our online event: Building back our social infrastructure: Rethinking government policy.

To help the UK recover from covid-19, we need not only to build back our economy, but also our society. Covid-19 has shown how charities and the public sector can come together to address some of our most pressing social needs, but it has also exposed a range of social and geographic inequalities, and gaps in the ‘social infrastructure’ that could address these.

If we are to address these gaps, we need to rethink government policy on social infrastructure, and how charities are involved in rebuilding it. And we will need to share ideas across organisations and sectors.

In this workshop we will bring together charities, funders, and policy makers from across different social sectors to test new ideas and ways to rebuild our social infrastructure – from our youth and mental health services, through to our local volunteer centres.

Hosted by NPC’s Head of Policy and External Affairs, Leah Davis, this online workshop will be interactive and participants will get to share their ideas and hear from others on:

  • The major policy challenges and opportunities for rebuilding our social infrastructure
  • How to refresh charities’ relationship with government to enable better support for social infrastructure
  • New ways for government policy to rebuild our social infrastructure to address inequalities
